Geographic Pavement Management System

Geographic Pavement Management System (GPMS) integrates diverse, spatially referenced data, including sign inventories, sign conditions, road inventory (road width, number of lanes, etc.) and road conditions (potholes, rutting, etc.). GPMS assists decision makers to find optimum strategies for providing and maintaining pavements in a serviceable condition over a period of time. GPMS includes:-

  1. Inventory – road signs and road markings linked to GPS coordinates.
  2. Condition – sign and road conditions linked to GPS coordinates.
  3. Prioritisation – rank projects by applying algorithms to the inventory and conditions counts, based on approved criteria.
  4. Work programme – schedule maintenance and rehabilitation projects using the list of prioritised projects.
  5. Budget – annual financial needs for maintenance and rehabilitation projects, as well as past expenditure can be included.
  6. Web-enabled - clients have full and easy access to all data through a user-friendly interface which integrates with the client’s existing systems.
  7. Monitoring - Using handheld devices, maintenance teams can be sent out to rehabilitate a road or condition at the correct geographic location, while their actions are incorporated into the database. Field teams can use a GIS-enabled handheld device to reduce time to locate an area that requires attention.

Asset management

Geographic Information Technology (GIT) has received overwhelming acceptance by local, provincial and national government departments. Communities are now taking responsibility for the efficient and effective management of their assets and resources. Jabula Projects has the ability to assist towns, cities, municipalities and other organisations in implementing and utilising GIT to save time, money and lives. Traditional asset management systems manage assets alphabetically or numerically in spread sheets. However assets such as road signs, buildings, vehicles (fleet management) and even furniture (movable assets) are best managed by a system that relates assets through geographic location and intelligent location processing. Jabula Projects Visual Geographic Asset Management System (VGAMS) provides municipalities with spatial and temporal dynamic data to manage, visualise, analyse, and communicate information regarding assets in order to maximize the capabilities, lifespan, and performance of expensive assets while simultaneously minimizing operating costs.

 Urban management

Jabula Projects has ability to capture data fast and accurate in an audible fashion that can assist in determining the nature, intensity, arrangement of land uses and urban decay of an urban area with due consideration to socio-economic factors, transport matters and development priorities. Comparison surveys between statutory land use management schemes or town planning schemes and the actual existing land uses can be conducted on behalf of metropolitan and local municipalities. Town planning aspects which Jabula Projects can play a role include:

  1. Integrated Development Planning
  2. Spatial Development Frameworks
  3. Urban Development
  4. Land Use Management
  5. Urban Renewal
  6. Precinct Frameworks

GIS Consulting

Large scale Geo-spatial consultancy

Jabula Projects offers a complete, professional service in spatial data capturing such as:

  1. Capture, styling and mapping of street centre lines, navigational aids and points of interest (POI).
  2. Area specific demarcation.
  3. On screen capturing from aerial photography/ satellite imagery and digitizing of existing topographical maps.

User Interface Development

GIT packages are now being provided with User Interface building facilities. Jabula Projects provides the end user with simple yet functional interfaces to their applications, thus maximising user interaction with the technology. Jabula Projects has experience in building successful interfaces using client systems and in house platforms.

Spatial Data Conversion

Jabula Projects is performing spatial data conversions from one proprietary GIS platform to another as well as database integration, management and maintenance for clients. With in-house GIS platforms, Jabula Projects has the ability to first perform the spatial data transformation and then subsequently create correctly structured spatial databases for clients.

Plotting

Jabula Projects acts as a service bureau for creating and plotting maps on a project basis, creating thereby a hassle free solution for companies that do not have the capability to do their own maps.
